Our Mission...
...to offer an experience that will enrich the lives of youth, women veterans, and widows in northern Idaho. The programs will incorporate intuitive horsemanship, ranch activities, nature and traditional crafts into each session. Participants will gain and build skills in Leadership, Problem-solving, Confidence, Integrity and Responsibility and will leave with a renewed sense of self and well-being.
Our Vision...
...to inspire each individual to look beyond their current capabilities and explore their world with newfound confidence and with the knowledge that they each have a special gift to give this world.
Our Story...
...it all began in the spring of 2011 when I decided to share my love of horses and the magic they bring into my everyday life. GIRLS AND HORSES started as a once-a-week, two-hour program and evolved into a week-long day camp that includes not only horses, but crafts, games, nature, etiquette and much more. In 2013 we introduced a RANCH WRANGLERS program for boys, ages 8-11 years old, and in October 2016 we hosted the very first PEACEFUL WARRIOR RANCH RETREAT. Eight women veterans had the opportunity to experience the magic of horses and a taste of ranch life that will aid in their healing process. In 2019 we hosted the first LIFESKILLS SISTERHOOD RETREAT, a two-day overnight retreat for girls ages 11-14. This retreat is designed to offer the girls the tools they need to navigate through the sometimes difficult transition of becoming a teenager. We teach them to 'Shine from within". In 2022 we added, COWBOY CAMP - a one-night camp for four teen boys. They worked hard, learning all of the skills a cowboy needs: fence building and repair, hay stacking, blacksmithing, and horse sense.
The evolution continues... in 2023...we decided to offer a retreat specially designed for widows, the PEACEFUL SPIRIT RANCH RETREAT. The first year was an astounding success. Seven widows came to join each other in their healing journey with horses, yoga and meditation, crafts, creek-time, campfires and more.
Due to some significant life changes, 2024 will be focused on the women...veterans and widows. We are taking a break from kids this summer to allow time and energy to improve and upgrade the retreats.
As the Lifeskills Ranch Program continues to evolve, our goal remains the same: to offer each participant an experience that enriches their life, teaches them something new, and empowers them to be a better human.
